In Limburg there are 12 brand new VDL Citea LLE-99 Electrics driving in Venlo and 4 VDL Citea SLF-120 Electrics in Maastricht. For the West Frisian Islands Arriva has opted for 14 electric buses: 10 Citeas SLF, 12 metres in length, and 4 articulated VDL Citeas SLFA, 18 metres in length.
Willem van der Leegte, president and chairman of the board of VDL Groep: “We are very proud to deliver so many buses to Arriva Nederland once again. The collaboration with Arriva is extended even further, since we will also be carrying out the maintenance of the buses in Limburg and the Citea Electrics on the West Frisian Islands.”
World première: VDL Citea LLE-99 Electric
The new VDL Citea LLE-99 Electric has been deployed in scheduled service in Venlo. This vehicle is brand new within the VDL Bus & Coach range of electric public transport buses. The VDL Citea LLE-99 is 9.9 metres in length and has been specifically designed for sparsely populated areas and for scheduled services with clear peak and off-peak times. For this vehicles the Light Low Entry concept is combined with a quiet, efficient electric powertrain. As with the traditional LLE, the net weight has been kept very low, making for a highly efficient bus that sets new standards of average energy consumption. All electric Citeas are fitted with a rapid charging system using a pantograph.
