DAF, Tatra and VDL Groep showcase unique military 6x6 truck at BEDEX 2026

At the Brussels European Defence Exhibition & Conference (BEDEX 2026), taking place from 12 to 14 March 2026, DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks, and VDL Groep will present a new, state-of-the-art military DAF 6x6 truck, illustrating the successful collaboration between the companies in designing, manufacturing, and maintaining the best possible military trucks with unmatched off-road capabilities. The special military CargoBody is supplied by VDL Groep.

DAF Trucks, in collaboration with Tatra Trucks, has just successfully completed the delivery of more than nine hundred 4x4 and 8x8 trucks as part of a recent tender by the Belgian Ministry of Defence. The 4x4 trucks are intended for general transport activities, while the 8x8 trucks have been developed for specialised tasks such as transporting containers in off-road conditions. The impressive 8x8 tractors are designed for quickly and smoothly recovering vehicles during military operations.

Armoured cabin to see
The new DAF military truck on display at BEDEX 2026 features 6x6 drive, with all six wheels powered. It will be available with a ballistic cabin and a civilian DAF cabin offering ample interior space, a low cabin floor for maximum accessibility, and excellent safety thanks to components such as the low window frames. The truck featured at BEDEX 2026 is equipped with the armoured cabin version from Tatra Defence, providing a high level of ballistic and mine protection. 

Unparalleled offroad capabilities
The new DAF 6x6 military truck also benefits from Tatra's unique four-wheel drive and the central, load-bearing tube with independent suspension. Combined with the excellent Central Tyre Inflation System, this ensures unmatched offroad performance and exceptionally comfortable driving, even on the most challenging terrain. 

Maintenance support by DAF
The ballistic cabs are supplied by Tatra Defence; the civilian cab variants are made by DAF, which also supplies the PACCAR MX-13 engines. Together with the Belgian armed forces, DAF also supports the maintenance of the more than 900 vehicles already delivered through its international network of over 1,150 dealers worldwide, ready for any future military deliveries.

Complete range of VDL bodies
The 6x6 truck that will be exhibited at BEDEX 2026 is equipped with a special military CargoBody, manufactured by VDL Groep. This is just one example from the full range of bodies that fit the new DAF 6x6 military truck and are all specifically designed for use under the most demanding conditions.
