On the recommendation of the Supervisory Board, the general meeting of shareholders appointed Marjan van Loon. Shareholder and supervisor Wim van der Leegte: “We are delighted with the appointment of Marjan as a new member of our Supervisory Board. Due to her extensive managerial experience in an international group and her expertise in energy transition, innovation, and technology, Marjan is a valuable addition to our Supervisory Board.”
Marjan van Loon: “VDL Groep is at the forefront of the international high-quality manufacturing industry. Innovative, forward-looking entrepreneurs and at the same time a Brabant family business where people are at the centre. That suits me. I have a nice and busy job at Shell, but when VDL asked me for this position, I didn't have to think for long. I look forward to being part of the company's future as a commissioner.”
Marjan van Loon was born in Helmond, is married, and has two children.
About VDL Groep
Powered by collaboration. That is the foundation of VDL Groep, the international industrial family business headquartered in Eindhoven. This company was founded in 1953 by Pieter van der Leegte. Initially, VDL Groep specialized in metalworking. When his son Wim van der Leegte took over the company, the portfolio was expanded to include plastics processing, the development, production, and sale of buses, and the company also began to specialize in high-tech supply for industries including the semiconductor industry. VDL Groep is prominent in supplying and semi-finished products, produces its own end products such as suspension systems, automated manufacturing setups for car factories, heat exchangers, and container handling systems, and with VDL Nedcar in Born, it has the only passenger car factory in the Netherlands where contract assembly takes place. VDL Groep innovates through a combination of craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and high-quality machinery. The corporate group combines the strength of a multinational with the flat organization and open, informal working atmosphere of a family business where career progression and continuity are prioritized. Since 2016, the third generation of the Van der Leegte family has been at the helm. VDL Groep employs over 15,000 people across 19 countries. The group includes 105 operating companies, each with its own specialization, working closely together. The combined annual turnover in 2020 was €4.686 billion.
