OrderOn.com: more functionalities and users; also available in Belgium

VDL Groep launched the platform OrderOn.com last year. This has made it possible for everyone to easily outsource laser cutting and edge finishing. After uploading digital job files to OrderOn.com, an online quote is immediately available without the need to install any software. VDL's digital platform has added edge rounding as a new feature. Additionally, the platform has also become accessible in Belgium.

“We are now eight months live and more and more users are finding OrderOn.com,” says project leader Bart van der Staak from OrderOn.com. “With our digital platform, we are responding to the increasing demand for simplicity in the ordering process of quality products with timely delivery.” This approach is paying off. Over the past few months, the number of users of the platform has grown exponentially.

Platform expansion

VDL continues to invest in further expansion of the platform. For instance, it is now possible to select the desired edge rounding within the platform. “During laser cutting, a burr can form on the underside during the cutting process. By brushing and grinding the products in a deburring machine, any burrs are removed and
sharp edges are rounded,” explains Bart van der Staak. In addition to edge rounding, other processes such as drilling, tapping, and tube laser cutting are also scheduled to be offered online and on demand this year.

Ambition

Van der Staak: “Our ambition is to continue growing significantly in 2023. With a larger team, more functionalities, and by entering the Belgian market, we aim to demonstrate to even more users how OrderOn.com can make metalworking easier”. OrderOn.com is part of a broader digitalisation strategy of VDL Groep, which will eventually integrate competencies from other subsidiaries of the industrial family business into a single online ‘make to order’ platform for a range of processing techniques.
