VDL Groep has acquired the Italian company Olocco. Olocco is a manufacturer of so-called rotary valves and industrial diverters. With the company from Fossano (approximately 75 kilometres south of Turin) in its ranks, VDL expects to further strengthen its production and sales activities in the Foodtech sector, one of the ‘five worlds of VDL’.
VDL Industrial Products from Eindhoven, one of VDL’s subsidiaries, has been the exclusive representative in the Benelux for the products of industry peer Olocco since the early 1990s. Olocco has been selling VDL Industrial Products in its home country Italy ever since.
Just like Olocco, VDL Industrial Products manufactures components for industrial installations used in the handling and storage of dry bulk materials (powders and granulates), such as rotary valves. These valves dose substances from a storage system, for example a silo, into a (conveying) system or into a machine. Diverter valves are for example incorporated into a pneumatic conveying or suction conveying system, allowing materials to be controlled and directed to different machines or sections of industrial systems.

Olocco, with these products, is the market leader in Italy and holds a strong market position in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. VDL Industrial Products, in turn, has a strong position in Europe, the USA, and Canada. Olocco was founded in 1950 by Mario Olocco. In 2010, his son Umberto and daughter Andreana took over shares from their father.
Since then, Umberto has been CEO of the company, which now employs 25 staff and achieved a turnover of approximately €8 million in 2021. Umberto Olocco remains CEO of the company, which will be renamed VDL Olocco and has become the 107th operating company of VDL Group. Also, Andreana Olocco remains active in the company.
VDL Group has taken a majority stake in Olocco. CEO Willem van der Leegte of VDL Groep: “One of our ambitions is to further strengthen our position in the food processing industry (Foodtech).
