VDL Groep has further strengthened its position in high-end electronics. The industrial family business, headquartered in Eindhoven, has acquired Rena Electronica from Zundert (North Brabant). Rena Electronica is active in the development and production of electronics for, among other things, LED products in various markets. With this acquisition, VDL primarily sees synergy benefits with VDL TBP Electronics, the subsidiary based in Dirksland (South Holland) and Eindhoven, which specializes in the assembly of high-quality electronics, so-called printed circuit board assemblies (pcbas), printed circuit boards with electronic components.
Rena Electronica has a turnover of 12 million euros and employs over 50 staff members. The company has invested in capacity expansion in recent years and has room for further growth. VDL TBP Electronics, which employs 170 people and has an annual turnover of 50 million euros, is reaching the limits of growth due to available capacity. By adding Rena's craftsmanship and high-quality machinery, VDL anticipates a significant increase in production capacity in the field of high-quality electronics, allowing the desired capacity expansion to be achieved and clients to be served well in this time of market growth. Due to developments such as electrification, geopolitical developments (strategic autonomy), and the ‘Internet of Things’, the market demand for high-quality electronics is expected to continue rising.
President-director Willem van der Leegte of VDL Groep: "We aim to be a one-stop-shop industrial partner. In addition to our expertise in mechanics and software, we have made a significant step forward in electronics with VDL TBP Electronics among our ranks. With the skilled employees and the high-quality machinery of Rena Electronica added to our capabilities, we further increase our production capacity, enabling us to better meet the growing demand from our customers."
"By becoming part of the VDL Groep, we can continue to grow together in innovative solutions with added value," says Jochem Winkelman, director of Rena Electronica. "This acquisition ensures long-term continuity for our customers and employees."
Rena provides reliable customized solutions for smart electronics and LED lighting. The company helps international OEM clients to be innovative, competitive, and distinctive. This is achieved through the one-stop-shop concept, with specialised engineers, a unique manufacturing and assembly location, and an extensive supply chain. Building on 40 years of experience, everything is developed and produced on-site in Zundert, and the 'Made in Holland' label is worn with pride. Together, we are building a partnership that enables customers to grow. While all Rena solutions may be customised, they do share something in common: robustness and quality.
