VDL Groep has acquired Limoco. This Flemish family business from Opglabbeek is a specialist in turnkey systems for industrial ventilation and extraction. With Limoco in its ranks, VDL Groep further consolidates its position in industrial air technology, a sector in which the industrial family company, with its subsidiary VDL Industrial Products, has been active for decades.
Limoco was founded in 1975 as Limburgse Montage Compagnie. The company, located in Opglabbeek (municipality of Oudsbergen in the Flemish province of Limburg), specializes in customer-specific solutions and turnkey projects in air technology in general, and specifically in industrial and residential ventilation and dust extraction. Limoco is a profitable company, has achieved a stable annual turnover of approximately 10 million euros in recent years, and employs 50 staff members.
For the turnkey projects, where Limoco handles the entire process from design to delivery for a customer, the Flemish project organization also processes the developed products of VDL Industrial Products in air technology, bulk handling, and fire and explosion safety. Limoco and VDL Industrial Products have been working together for 20 years by sharing products, knowledge, and expertise, with Limoco taking care of engineering, manufacturing, and installation of the air technical systems for, in, or on an industrial building or factory, and VDL Industrial Products supplying the components (such as piping, sluices, and valves). Key markets served include food, high-tech, and mobility. With Limoco in the team, VDL is able to relieve customers with more custom solutions and a broader package (including work preparation, design, installation, and maintenance & service).
‘Great step forward in our development’
The Stinkens family has been at the helm of Limoco since 2004. Tim Stinkens took over the company in 2019 from his father Jan. Tim Stinkens: “Due to the long-standing intensive collaboration with VDL, the step to become part of VDL Groep feels small to us, but it is a significant step forward in our development. The scale of our projects is constantly increasing because our customers are increasingly wanting one supplier to handle everything, from design to delivery. This is often a big challenge for us alone. The partnership with VDL is also a good match for this. We see VDL as a stable partner who can help us achieve future growth, both domestically and internationally.”
'Advantages for both parties'
President and CEO Willem van der Leegte of VDL Groep: “Limoco and our operating company VDL Industrial Products have a long-standing relationship as both customer and supplier. This acquisition offers benefits for both parties. By sharing knowledge, jointly exploiting market opportunities, and improving operational efficiency in logistics processes and achieving scale benefits through joint purchasing, we can realize growth ambitions and further strengthen our position in the industrial air technology market.”
