Strength through cooperation. That is the foundation of VDL Groep, the international industrial family company with its headquarters in the Brainport Eindhoven region. Founded in 1953, now 70 years later, the third generation of the Van der Leegte family has been at the helm since 2017. VDL Groep, with over 14,000 employees, is active in 20 countries.

Wheel hubs
Automated and robotized manufacturing

VDL TIM Hapert has entered into a long-term contract with a major truck company for the annual production of wheel hubs. A wheel hub is located at the end of a truck's axle and serves as the attachment point for the wheel. Since a truck's wheels need to operate smoothly for many years and kilometers, the wheel hub is a critical safety component.

This means that VDL TIM Hapert is responsible for a significant portion of the wheel hubs used annually within this truck company. Additionally, the wheel hubs for the new electric trucks will be produced at VDL TIM Hapert.

VDL Makes strides in nuclear sector

We are expanding our high-tech activities and taking steps in the nuclear sector. For example, VDL KTI in Belgium will make important parts for the new PALLAS reactor in Petten. This reactor will ensure that for the next 50 years the Netherlands can continue to supply medical isotopes needed for the treatment of millions of people.

And we are going to supply several components, such as the heat exchanger, for a molten-salt reactor (MSR). This MSR is being developed by Thorizon and can power 250,000 households. This reactor uses molten salt as fuel and cooling.

VDL's sustainable factories
Green technology

Our new factories are designed to operate in the most efficient and sustainable manner. The new factories will be delivered energy neutral, using 'green' technology. This includes, among other things: more natural light and less artificial light (healthier and safer for employees), the reuse of rainwater and the choice of building with medium-weight concrete (this smoothes out the heating and cooling cycle in the summer).

VDL Bus & Coach
100% electric city bus

The result of a project that was designed around electric driveline technology, the new VDL city bus family boasts a range of features, including low-flow and no engine tower, that were developed from the ground up to maximize the benefits of electric traction while avoiding the limitations of designs based on combustion engines. For the first time, the new Citea buses have the batteries installed in the floor.
